The motor at the moment is a standard china one with a pretty low speed. I will probably use this until it dies. I have never had a motor wear out on me yet so I can only give limited advice. Never had a problem with TM and I know the Systema Magnum motors are meant to be pretty good, and they sell seperate kits to service them if needed for a 1/4 the cost of the motor.

okay thanks because for me I have had bad luck with stock motors. I might throw in a spare G&P m120 motor to increase the rate of fire. Im looking forward to your upgrades. Ps your guide is so helpful! I am teaching myself on how to tech different airsoft guns besides the m4 and ak, so this definitely helped!!

Glad your finding it helpful. As stated on other threads spending alot of £££'s on guns which don't work in the field are so annoying. Hopefully won't have any issues with this when its taken out for its first time.

Also just an update have ordered several BAR mags from Airsoft World and the new due date is 12/11/12. So cutting it very close to the gunman game :? I pray they arrive in time. I presume the pre ordered BAR's are the same.

This is copy and pasted from the email i got when ordering my mags.

Dear Stuart Worrell
Your order # 000000000 status has changed to Pre Order.

Hi, Many thanks for your pre-order. The item you ordered is due in around the 12/11/12 and your order will be dispatched at that time. Please note that occasionally dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances however we will update our website with the latest news as we receive it. Regards, Airsoft World Ltd

Now back to the upgrades!

Spent about 3 hours yesterday on the BAR and have some small obstacles to cross.

The upgraded systema spring guide needed to be sanded down slightly to fit on the part which ejects from the quick spring release system. This was done, and now fits rather snug. However because of the tabs being slightly too long it will not fit back into the gearbox :slap: So this also needs to be sanded down to fit. You can see the steel tabs at the far left of the picture. We are talking like a couple of mm. Other brands may not of needed this.

The BAR hop unit is a modified AK one, so it was no surprise the AK Pro win hop needed modification too. It needs its tabs at the back sanded down to fit snug with the gearbox.

The bearings are deffinitly 8mm, the reason I couldnt get a good reading last time is the China one on closer inspection are ... crap! How ever the bearing they use are really thin and the CA 8mm ones I have are really thick. So there is no way they fit with the gears that come with it. So I am going to order some guarder / systema direct replacement Tokyo Marui gears (which are thinner have already checked against some worn ones) and use the decent Classic Army bearings. The China ones in some of the holes moved around which gave me shivvers down my spine.

Apart from that all other compoents used fitted fine and hope to have it finished by early next week time allowing. :good:

can you post a picture of what you mean by the back of the hop up unit? I am confused on what exactly you filed down to make it fit?

Will do, how ever for the moment this picture may do. In the top left hand corner of the Hop pictured below, you can see a screw hole. This is meant to fix through the front of an AK gearbox. Bolting the prowin to the gearbox, whilst acting like the normal screw does and screwing the front of the gearbox together. The BAR has this very hole too, however it does not allign. So where the screw hole is all the Material in a _] shape needs to be removed. Hope this helps for the time being.

Stu :good:

From what you are writing here you are having to replace nearly all of the internals of this gun. The only usable part being the housing. Bearings, gears, hopup, springs. All sorts of bits and pieces. Is the gun actually that bad that it has to be rebuilt before use?

I am only choosing to rebuild it out of taste. I want all my guns to shoot far and true. You could go out and use it straight out the box no problems.

Are there any parts you'd say that really need to be replaced?

Barrel, cylinder and possibly the hob rubber. Rest you could get away with for a while. Barrel is to short and is made so bad (sharp edges and hand finished) Cylinder is for a short m4 style barrel and you want air seal asap not half way down the cylinder.

I doubt i'll put a barrel that long in, probably 400mm ish tops and 6.03 rather than 6.01, i'll see how it goes. I freely admit I'm useless with internals, so i plan to give airsoft world a ring and see if they can put parts in for me before they send it out.

I was told if it gets too long the chances of the bb bouncing around inside get very high, which makes sense to me. But i'll wait to see how Stu's turns out and what airsoft world reccomend sticking in there.

Yes I heard from a few peeps that VFC bars needed a bit of work out of thebox to be any good.

Nothing against airsoft world as such but they dont seem to stock the widest range of upgrades. I used Fire Support to buy all mine from. The 6.03 and the 6.01 barrel had a price difference of a few quid. So went for the 6.01. Although have never used the Madbull 6.01 (normally i go PDI, prometheus or a 6.03 madbull) so the results will most intresting! On a side note a BB should never tuch the insides of a barrel as it should be cushioned through from start to finish. Using poor quality BB''s though and then you are in trouble!

If you are worried about upgrading your gun the easiest upgrade is the barrel, so maybe just change that to start with? You dont need to touch anything inside the gearbox to do that with.

Have got my 8 new BAR Mags today and I can say they are indeed an improvement on the one that came with the gun. Look almost like a real brand has made them! No wobble on any of the internals what so ever!

On a side note If you pre ordered a BAR I presume the mag that comes with it will be the first run of "dodgey" ones. Looks like I was very lucky getting the new ones at the old price.
